‘The Long Walk’ trailer brings Stephen King’s brutal dystopian novella to life

Stephen King fans have been waiting a long time for this one. Although it wasn’t the first book he had published, the horror master started his novella The Long Walk when he was back in high school. Now, almost 60 years later, it’s finally coming to the big screen.

The trailer above teases the brilliant and painful premise: A group of teenage boys enter a dystopian race controlled by the military, where you have to keep walking above a certain speed or face death if you drop below it. The race only stops when there’s one person left standing.

Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Ben Wang, Charlie Plummer, Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Judy Greer, and Mark Hamill star.

The Long Walk is in theatres from Sept. 12.
