Buying refurbished is an excellent way to save on tech. That’s true even when historic tariffs aren’t threatening to raise prices on brand-new devices. (As an added bonus, you’re also diverting still-usable products from a landfill.)
Refurbished devices are effectively immune from the recent price hikes triggered by President Donald Trump’s tariffs on imported goods since they’re already made and readily available. That could change if current-generation prices get so high that secondhand demand skyrockets, or if trade-in inventories dwindle as consumers hold onto their existing devices for longer. For now, there are still plenty of refurbished deals on tech gadgets, including popular laptops, smartphones, earbuds, smartwatches, gaming consoles, and vacuums.
